Mental Health (Psychiatry)

The Department of Psychiatry's inpatient units provide short-term acute care for most child, adolescent and adult psychiatric disorders,  eating disorders, motivated behavior disorders, affective disorders, geriatric and neuropsychiatry, and pain management.  Electroconvulsive therapy is also available.  As an alternative to inpatient care, general and specialty psychiatric day hospitals provide short-term acute care for most psychiatric disorders.

Outpatient specialty clinics include the following:  Affective Disorders, Geriatric Psychiatry, Pain Treatment, Eating and Weight Disorders, Neuropsychiatry and Memory Group; Anxiety Disorders, AIDS Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Huntington’s Disease.  Child and adolescent outpatient services include the Anxiety Disorders, Affective Disorders, Psychopharmacology, Developmental Neuropsychiatry, and General Psychiatry Clinics.  A wide range of psychological testing is also available for both inpatients and outpatients through the Medical Psychology Clinic, the Obsessive Compulsive Disorders Clinic, and the Cortical Function Laboratory.
